Abstract

The alleged "re-connection" approach focuses on de-colonisation of newly independent countries, their developing pattern and international integration. This paper highlights several historical and economic distinctive features of the "East Asian re-connection" process. It considers this reconnection as more-region based since the 1997 Asian crisis. The ASEAN+3, with increased intra-regional trade and new forms of inter-State cooperation, is evidence of a new "regionalized connection".
