Abstract

Publié en 1952, American Capitalism est le premier titre important de John Kenneth Galbraith. L'étude de ce texte et de son contexte permet de détailler les premières expressions chez cet auteur du thème du contrôle social, qui va devenir le cour de son projet théorique. Cette étude permet également d'observer comment la problématique Institutionnaliste, que Galbraith commence alors juste à assumer en 1952, va savoir se renouveler après 1945 grâce à une nouvelle génération d'économistes confrontés aux problèmes rencontrés par la démocratie et l'économie américaines.
