Abstract

This paper applied the theme of sustainable development to the case of urban transport. A series of indicators which simultaneously take account of environmental matters and the daily economic and social mobility of the inhabitants of a city is offered. The objective is to furnish a tool which will help in decision making, allowing the comparison of different urban transport alternatives within an urban area. We present here a research carried out to verify the possibility and the usefulness of elaborating these sustainable mobility indicators. It is applied to the French conurbation of Greater Lyon.
