Abstract

L'auteur examine successivement à quel type de notion économique correspond le besoin en général, les positions de la confédération des syndicats médicaux et du C.N.P.F. à l'égard du besoin de santé, le caractère très relatif, déterminé culturellement et socialement, de ce dernier selon les individus. La croissance d'une consommation dans un sens plus égalitaire — c est-à-dire une diminution des écarts relatifs entre les diverses catégories sociales — se produit presque naturellement dans une production à rendements croissants : c'est le cas de la production de masse, du frigidaire. Lorsqu'il s'agit d'une production à rendements constants ou décroissants, il faut d'autres mécanismes : la Sécurité sociale, conclut l'auteur, est l'application à la santé du principe du frigidaire.
