Moral Ambiguity and Judgment: A Reply to “Acting to Know”

Abstract

"Yang, Fan, and Zeng (2026) offer an intriguing extension to our model of moral ambiguity in entrepreneurial action (Vorholzer & Brattstrom, 2025). (...) We are excited that Yang and colleagues share our goal to better understand the mechanisms surrounding moral judgment in entrepreneurial action, as well as how moral ambiguity emerges and manifests in this process. Their work allowed us to revisit key assumptions we made in our theorizing and reflect on how future research can best mobilize moral judgment processes to further our understanding of moral ambiguity in entrepreneurial action. In this dialogue, we address two issues they highlight: (a) what action is stalled, and (b) moral judgment across levels of analysis."
