Abstract

Steven G. Medema is a historian of economics who has been affiliated with the Center for the History of Political Economy at Duke University since 2019. Throughout his career, he has held various editorial positions, notably as book review editor for two journals specializing in the history of economics: The Journal of the History of Economic Thought (JHET) from 1998 to 2008 (when he also served as the journal's editor) and History of Political Economy (HOPE) from 2017 to 2024. This interview reflects upon his experiences and explores various aspects of book reviews within the history of economics. This interview took place in his office at the Center for the History of Political Economy on March 25, 2025.
