Abstract

This research examines how proximities between actors in an ecosystem are built, articulated, and evolve over time to support the development of collective dynamic capabilities, thereby fostering innovations in the circular economy. The qualitative study is based on a longitudinal analysis of the CLES initiative (Coopérations locales et environnementales en synergies), which constitutes a circularity ecosystem within the Strasbourg Ports. Data collected from interviews, observations, and secondary sources are analysed using a coding grid crossing proximities and dynamic capabilities. The results show the central role of proximities as evolving relational capital, whose configurations support collaboration, innovation, and actors' adaptation, enriching the theory of collective dynamic capabilities and managerial practices aimed at coordinating ecosystems committed to sustainability and the circular economy.
