Abstract

Emprunter, payer, rembourser, emprunter encore, rembourser toujours. Marchander, négocier, supplier, mendier. Protéger les siens, le protéger, lui, se protéger, elle. Sourire, plaire, séduire, se donner, mais aussi se garder. Souillée, usée, épuisée, mais aussi fière, tenace, rusée, digne. Trouver des combines, tisser des liens, créer des réseaux. Ne pas dormir, compter les heures, compter les dettes. Au Tamil Nadu en Inde, une autre figure de la finance et de la comptabilité se dessine, celle de la femme endettée. La productivité du travail de négociation de la dette du foyer, permanente, pesante et sans cesse circulante, est largement invisibilisée. Ce travail implique des formes d'intermédiation multiples : l'argent, le corps, la sexualité, le don. Il s'ancre dans des réseaux, des liens. Il est lien. Il révèle le fonctionnement quotidien du capitalisme patriarcal. Et il met en pièces les catégories normées de la comptabilité.
