Abstract

This communication presents an innovative method coupling hydraulic and economic models at the building scale to assess flood adaptation effectiveness. Utilizing the floodam.building package, we integrate submodels for interior hydraulics, material damage, and occupant danger. The approach simulates water exchange through openings based on exterior hydrographs to determine internal conditions. We apply this framework to both systematic theoretical analyses of archetypal layouts and a contextualized case study in Nîmes. Results demonstrate how the methodology quantifies the impact of adaptation measures, highlighting critical dependencies on flood duration, opening states, and interior configuration for accurate vulnerability assessment.
