Abstract

We explore how external stakeholders, particularly a bank and an insurance company, have chosen to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in integrating corporate social responsibility (CSR). We analyze the organizational and strategic changes brought about by this support in these external partners, considering the CSR support project as a non-human actor in accordance with actor-network theory. A comparative analysis of the two cases reveals that the transformation of the network of actors depends on their strategic choices. In particular, acceptance of the CSR support offer appears highly dependent on the type of CSR chosen and how closely it aligns with the commercial offering of the banking and insurance partners. It also depends on the credibility of their CSR approach.
