Abstract

Links between cooperatives, through their main decision-making bodies, create connections that can impact more than just pragmatic operational aspects. Investigating the existence of shared administrators in cooperatives in a region of southern Brazil, the networks that interconnect these cooperatives and their scope were mapped. Unstructured interviews provided additional insights into the motivations and effects of this practice, relating them to the reasons traditionally presented in the literature. The interviews also generated illustrative cases, transcribed at the end of this study, which demonstrate examples of the real impacts of this shared management on the governance of the cooperatives studied.
