Abstract

La capacité des enfants à participer à des recherches marketing et à exprimer leurs opinions est souvent remise en cause. Il existe en effet de nombreux biais qui apparaissent dès lors qu'on transpose les méthodes de collecte utilisées chez les adultes au niveau des enfants. Ces derniers présentent des caractéristiques singulières qu'il est important de bien connaitre avant de les cibler pour une enquête. De nombreuses recherches montrent qu'ils ont leurs propres idées et sont capables de parler par eux-mêmes. Leurs réponses peuvent également être pertinentes mais à condition que les outils existants soient adaptés à leur compétences, leurs connaissances, leurs intérêts et leur contexte. Outre cette adaptation méthodologique, les chercheurs sont confrontés à un autre défi lorsqu'il s'agit de mener des études auprès de ce public, c'est la question de l'éthique. Le respect de la vie privée, la confidentialité des données, la transparence, le consentement ainsi que la question du paiement et de l'indemnisation sont fondamentaux dans toutes les recherches, mais dès lors qu'on cible des enfants, population plus fragile, ces différents éléments prennent une autre ampleur.
