Abstract

L'essor du digital dans les pratiques sportives des jeunes montre l'importance de s'intéresser à ce phénomène en raison des forts enjeux économiques et sociétaux. Dans la littérature marketing, peu d'études se sont intéressées à ce sujet. On ne connait pas quelles sont les motivations des jeunes qui les pratiquent, si elles diffèrent des pratiques sportives classiques et quelles sont les conséquences au niveau des apports physiques. Dans cette recherche, la théorie de l'autodétermination (Deci et Ryan, 1985, 2000) est mobilisée afin de mieux comprendre la dynamique motivationnelle des jeunes dans leurs pratiques sportives. Les résultats de l'étude empirique montrent des formes de motivations ainsi que des conséquences différentes dans les trois profils de pratiques analysés, qui sont la « complémentarité » entre les deux types de pratique, « l'émergence » des nouvelles pratiques exclusivement digitalisées et la « substitution » des pratiques classiques en faveur des pratiques digitalisées.
