Abstract

Aujourd'hui le problème du gaspillage alimentaire reste préoccupant, malgré les multiples actions entreprises par les différents acteurs durant cette dernière décennie. La recherche académique sur le sujet avance, mais des voies de recherche supplémentaires sont nécessaires afin de comprendre le processus motivationnel global. L'objectif de cette étude est d'appliquer la théorie de l'autodétermination (Deci et Ryan, 1985) à ce sujet, afin de déceler des variables d'actions efficaces. Un modèle global alliant les besoins innés d'autonomie, de compétence et d'affiliation aux différents types de motivation ainsi qu'aux conséquences comportementales, est proposé. A partir d'une étude menée auprès de 375 jeunes, les résultats montrent que les besoins d'autonomie et d'affiliation sont prédominants et impactent respectivement la motivation intrinsèque et la motivation extrinsèque, alors que le besoin de compétence n'est pas du tout influençant. Les effets de ses besoins sur les intentions et les gestes anti gaspillages nous permettent de détecter des leviers d'actions pertinents.
