Abstract

Malgré les nombreuses initiatives déployées au cours de la dernière décennie par une diversité d'acteurs, le gaspillage alimentaire demeure une problématique importante. Si la France a enregistré une réduction de 10 % entre 2016 et 2020 (Eurostat, 2022), des efforts significatifs restent à fournir pour atteindre l'objectif de –50 % d'ici 2030, fixé par la loi AGEC en 2020. La recherche académique progresse sur ce sujet, mais des approfondissements demeurent nécessaires afin de mieux comprendre le phénomène et d'accompagner efficacement les actions engagées. Ce faisant, l'objectif de cet article est de mieux comprendre les effets des différentes campagnes de communication menées, sur la motivation des jeunes à ne pas gaspiller. En s'appuyant sur la théorie de l'autodétermination (Deci et Ryan, 1985), une expérimentation a été menée sur la base de deux formats de communication : une vidéo TikTok et une affiche plus conventionnelle. Les résultats indiquent que la communication via un média social satisfait plus efficacement les trois besoins fondamentaux de la théorie de l'autodétermination, ce qui se traduit par une intention d'agir plus favorable immédiatement après l'exposition. En revanche, bien que l'affiche suscite des effets plus modérés sur l'intention et la satisfaction des besoins psychologiques, elle semble favoriser une meilleure intériorisation du message, laissant présager un impact plus durable à long terme.
