Abstract

This article examines how music streaming affects the local economy in Morocco and the new professions within the industry. While digital distribution is a reality in developed countries, it remains understudied in the emerging economies of North Africa. This work aims to fill this gap by first presenting the growth of streaming and its impact on music revenues. Next, it explores value creation from royalties, digital visibility, and partnerships, while highlighting the limitations of this model (revenue concentration, unequal access, fraudulent practices, and a weak legal system). Finally, the research sheds light on the professionalization of this industry and the development of new skills in digital marketing, data analysis, and community management necessary to navigate this rapidly changing market.
