Abstract

The deployment of systems supported by emerging and disruptive technologies could transform the modalities of perception, interpretation, and decision-making for users interacting in extreme contexts. Our focus is on the deployment of remote carriers, collaborative remote effectors, whose applications are not yet stabilized. This research aims to understand and model how situational awareness and IT mindfulness are articulated when these technologies are deployed in extreme contexts. Fifteen individual interviews and one focus group, conducted with French military personnel and defense industry professionals, contribute to defining these systems, identifying their functionalities, and the anticipated interactions.
