Abstract

This document presents the strategic role of the University of New Caledonia in the development and institutional future of the archipelago. The author highlights the importance of the Nouméa Accord, which entrusts the institution with a mission of training and research tailored to local realities. Through its research laboratory and its own publishing house, the university promotes the dissemination of scientific and legal knowledge essential to the rebalancing of the territory. This document introduces the proceedings of a major symposium that brought together experts and political actors to calmly debate the Caledonian future. Thus, the institution asserts itself as a neutral space for dialogue, essential for the social and political support of the region.
