Abstract

**Joël Cariolle montre l'intérêt de mesures de l'instabilité allant au-delà des simples mesures traditionnelles de l'ampleur de l'instabilité d'une variable.** Joël Cariolle montre l'intérêt de mesures de l'instabilité allant au-delà des simples mesures traditionnelles de l'ampleur de l'instabilité d'une variable (basées généralement sur le calcul de l'écart-type de cette variable). En effet, des mesures basées sur le coefficient d'asymétrie (prédominance des chocs positifs ou négatifs) et le kurtosis (probabilité des chocs extrêmes) d'une distribution statistique peuvent apporter une information complémentaire sur les effets de l'instabilité, et peuvent se révéler parfois plus adaptées à l'étude de comportements économiques particuliers. Le principe de calcul de ces indicateurs, et leur intérêt, sont illustrés par le cas de l'instabilité des recettes d'exportation pour 134 pays (développés et en développement) sur la période 1970-2005.
