Abstract

À travers la démarche ethnographique, cet article documente la manière dont les parents d'enfants atteints de cancers, bénéficiant d'un faible soutien institutionnel et politique, s'organisent pour soigner leurs enfants. Au Mali, le CHU Gabriel Touré de Bamako, la capitale, est actuellement la seule unité où les enfants peuvent recevoir une chimiothérapie dispensée par des oncologues pédiatres qualifiés. Les enquêtes de terrain, ayant porté sur le parcours de soins d'enfants atteints de cancers, ont été menées dans l'unité d'oncologie pédiatrique. L'étude a permis de mettre en évidence le fardeau économique des cancers de l'enfant sur l'économie des ménages.
