Abstract

Vous poussez une porte. Il y a du monde, mais pas trop. On entend des discussions dans un coin, quelqu'un prépare du café, une affiche annonce un atelier pour apprendre à réparer un grille-pain et une exposition photo habille tout un pan de mur. Au fond, une personne travaille sur son ordinateur. Une autre arrive, visiblement habituée, et salue plusieurs personnes venues pour un atelier tricot. Vous ne savez pas exactement si vous êtes dans un café, un centre social, un lieu culturel ou un espace de coworking... Pourtant, une chose est certaine : ce lieu ne ressemble pas aux autres. Bienvenue dans un tiers-lieu. Depuis une vingtaine d'années, ces espaces hybrides se développent en France. Ils attirent des publics variés et suscitent l'intérêt des chercheurs, des collectivités et des citoyens. Mais une question demeure : pourquoi les gens fréquentent-ils ces lieux ? Qu'y trouvent-ils que d'autres espaces ne semblent plus offrir ?
