Abstract

Les sociétés américaines SpaceX, Planet ou encore OneWeb bousculent, chacune dans leur domaine, le secteur spatial et contribuent à faire émerger une nouvelle industrie désignée sous l'appellation de New Space. Pourtant, l'industrie spatiale a longtemps été considérée comme particulièrement stable et difficile d'accès. La théorie de la disruption technologique aide à comprendre certains changements, notamment comment de nouveaux entrants réussissent à dé­trôner des géants, parfois en utilisant des technologies inventées par ces derniers. L'enjeu est de réussir à modifier les normes de performance afin de transformer les atouts détenus par les firmes en place en charges et en actifs obsolètes. S'il s'agit bien du mécanisme économique actuellement en jeu dans le secteur spatial, l'industrie française, qui occupe jusqu'à présent une place de choix, se trouve en danger. Dans ce contexte, l'article évoque quelques scenarii probables et les stratégies possibles pour les acteurs de cette filière, s'ils veulent faire face à cette rapide évolution de leur environnement.
