En quête d’une éthique globale dans un monde complexe

Abstract

Les profondes transformations de la culture contemporaine et les développements des enseignements de l'Église enregistrés depuis la publication en 1995 de l'encyclique Evangelium vitae poussent à un renouvellement aussi bien thématique que méthodologique du travail de discernement. C'est cette problématique qu'aborde La joie de la vie , publié sous l'égide de l'Académie pontificale pour la vie près de trois décennies après l'encyclique de Jean-Paul II « sur la valeur et l'inviolabilité de la vie humaine ». Ma contribution fait ressortir trois insistances du texte : le besoin d'une éthique globale pour mieux intégrer la dimension économique et sociale dans la réflexion bioéthique ; la prise en compte de la complexité et d'un pouvoir technique qui échappe au contrôle de l'homme ; le rôle essentiel du dialogue pour rechercher le bien et le vrai dans une société pluraliste.
