Abstract

This article examines the apparent contradiction between self-management and Peronism through the case of worker-recovered enterprises (ERTs) in Argentina. While self-management implies an implicit critique of capitalist private property and a claim to horizontal forms of labor organization, most leaders of the main political representative organizations (OPRs) of the ERTs adhere to various currents of Peronism—a movement historically characterized by verticalism, personalism, and the defense of private property.
