Abstract

El libro Four Worlds of the Welfare State in Latin America, rico en interdisciplinariedad, establece una tipología de la manera en que se institucionalizan los Estados de bienestar en América Latina. Esta importante obra que nos ofrece el Dr. Ilán Bizberg, profesor del Centro de Estudios Internacionales en El Colegio de México, es un ensayo comparativo internacional que logra un entendimiento de estos procesos, escapando de las discusiones tradicionales sobre la configuración de los sistemas de protección social. El autor utiliza tres interesantes cuestionamientos que sirven de hilo conductor a lo largo de su obra: ¿Cuál es el significado social del Estado de bienestar? ¿Cuáles son los actores sociales que dominan las relaciones sociales de esta sociedad?, y ¿qué tipo de compromiso social han alcanzado? ...
