Abstract

The present case study aims to facilitate students' analysis of how Carbios establishes a sustainable ecosystem, manages strategic supplier relationships, and develops key purchasing processes in a circular economy. Indeed, recycling waste is urgent, only 9% of plastics are recyclable globally (European Environment Agency, 2024), as plastic use rises with population growth, urbanisation, and convenience demand. Carbios, a French company, innovates with its own enzyme technology to create a sustainable business model focused on recycling plastics and textiles. The company collaborates with waste suppliers and industry leaders to implement, in the coming years, closed-loop systems to propose effective recycling solutions.
