Abstract

Comprendre le comportement des développeurs et son impact sur le développement des logiciels libres fait partie des questions scientifiques en vogue dans la recherche en Systèmes d'Information. Les travaux de recherche les plus saillants sur l'open source ont permis de découvrir les motivations des participants. Pour autant, comprendre les attitudes, les implications et les participations, les antécédents et les effets de leurs comportements, demeurent des interrogations scientifiques retenant une attention particulière. Ceci est à la fois révélateur du côté novateur comme du manque de corpus théorique solide du phénomène open source. Dans cet article, qui mobilise des courants issus de la psychologie et de la social exchange theory, nous développons un modèle théorique sur les antécédents et les résultats associés aux comportements des développeurs. La partie empirique permettant de tester ledit modèle est effectuée par l'intermédiaire d'une enquête en ligne administrée auprès de SourceForge.net, la plus importante plateforme de développement de projets open source.
