Abstract

L'exacerbation de la rivalité est-elle toujours productive ? Ne débouche-t-elle pas aussi sur des effets pervers tels que la rétention d'information et le manque de coopération par exemple ? Ce sont les questions que se sont posés Benjamin Converse et David Reinhard, deux chercheurs en psychologie de l'université de Virginie, aux Etats-Unis. Les résultats de leurs études sur la rivalité entre athlètes, publiés dans le Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, pointent le revers de la médaille.
