Abstract

Elizabeth Tenney, Jennifer Logg et Don Moore, des universités d'Utah et de Berkeley, ont voulu vérifier si la croyance populaire selon laquelle notre optimisme quant à nos chances de réussite nous permettrait de nous dépasser, donc de réaliser cette tâche aussi difficile soit-elle. Ils ont alors conduit cinq expériences différentes avant de se prononcer. Malheureusement pour les optimistes béats, leurs conclusions risquent de se révéler pour eux une douche froide car ils estiment en fin de compte que nous sommes bien trop optimistes sur la capacité de l'optimisme de nous aider à nous dépasser.
