Abstract

Knowledge management is the set of concepts, methods and tools used to capitalize on, share and develop knowledge assets (knowledge, know-how) in a given field. This chapter describes the project for the transfer of know-how in the restoration of historic buildings in Perigord. The project has two main initial phases for the capitalization of knowledge. The first phase consists of an analysis of the trade's knowledge assets. The second phase consists of capitalizing on certain areas of knowledge analyzed as critical, based on experts' tacit knowledge, to obtain what is known as a "knowledge book". The following phases involve the construction of the training system: transformation of the knowledge book into a training booklet, design of the training system (training site, program, etc.), video recording of the specific skills identified in the knowledge booklet and production of educational films to transmit these skills.
