Abstract

Dans un environnement commercial soumis à une intense concurrence, la théorie du Big Middle offre un cadre stimulant pour analyser l'évolution des stratégies des grands distributeurs. Contrairement à la roue de la distribution, qui se concentre sur les modèles discount, la théorie du Big Middle suggère que les grands distributeurs évoluent d'un positionnement initial axé sur le prix ou sur le service vers une position intermédiaire prix / service afin d'attirer une clientèle plus large. La note de recherche examine de quelle manière la théorie du Big Middle peut s'appliquer à la logistique en s'appuyant sur plusieurs exemples illustrant, pour de grands distributeurs, la nécessité d'innovations en vue de rester compétitifs. Elle souligne l'importance de recherches approfondies sur ce thème, en élargissant de manière originale la vision traditionnelle du Big Middle focalisée sur les stratégies marketing.
