Abstract

This research examines the choice of epistemological positions, particularly in relation to the production of knowledge in African contexts. In light of the increasingly recurrent incompatibilities between contextual realities and classical epistemologies, a critical discussion of the myth of universalism becomes necessary. Among African philosophies, Ubuntu stands out as a form of thought that is both agentive and methodical. From this perspective, this research develops the pragmatic epistemology of Ubuntu as a response to the question of the activation and validity of knowledge produced in situated contexts. Based on four interrelated postulates, this approach seeks to rethink the universality of epistemologies through theoretical frameworks grounded in local realities.
