Abstract

Nous concentrons notre apport dans ce chapitre sur la distinction entre les résultats intergénérationnels et intragénérationnels. Les premiers permettent une vision sur le long terme, en comparant la situation des enfants en matière d'éducation, de marché du travail ou de revenus des ménages par rapport à celle de leurs parents à des moments comparables de leur vie. Comme nous l'exposons en détail tout au long de cet ouvrage, les inégalités se croisent, se renforcent mutuellement et évoluent très lentement. Cependant, si la situation des enfants est meilleure que celle de leurs parents, cette amélioration intergénérationnelle est le signe d'un certain progrès et d'une société meilleure. Nous prenons également en compte la mobilité intragénérationnelle, celle qui a lieu tout au long de la vie d'individus spécifiques, qui peut être plus évidente pour les individus lorsqu'ils envisagent leurs perspectives et reviennent sur leur trajectoire de vie.
