Abstract

Agricultural pluriactivity is a major constraint for the farmer's organization of agricultural work. The analysis of farm work by its articulation with off-farm activity has been realized by an exploratory qualitative study. Semi-directive interviews about work organization were conducted with 45 pluriactive farmers in the Nord-Pas de Calais region. The type and quantity of work carried out by pluriactive farmers and the dimension of the activities were highlighted as the two major factors in the organization of pluriactivity. Five types of farm work organization were highlighted, showing the organization of farm work as an adjustment between constraints and choices.
