Abstract

The transition to parenthood is one of the most intense transitions an individual can experience (Eloise et al., 2021). Perceptions of parenting roles including food are a critical aspect in the adoption of healthy eating habits during parenthood (Author et al., 2022). Social media influencers shape parents' perceptions and attitudes about their roles through blogs, tweets, and the use of other social media (Freberg et al., 2011). This paper presents a work in progress examining a corpus of 25 parent influencer Instagram accounts, including, representations of parenting roles and factors associated with those roles through the lens of food. Thus, this first phase of data collection is complemented by a second phase involving semi-structured interviews (in progress) with parents who follow these influencers to understand how these representations are perceived by parents.
