Abstract

En quoi le handicap est-il, au même titre que l'égalité entre les femmes et les hommes, une question qui concerne tout le monde, à sa manière universelle ? Par-delà la singularité de chaque personne handicapée, et la diversité des handicaps et des situations qui peuvent les rendre insupportables, la notion de handicap est toujours relative et le nombre de personnes concernées considérable. Une fois dépassé le tabou, le handicap offre une image de l'humanité ordinaire, et peut devenir un vecteur d'humanité et d'une solidarité au service de toutes et tous. Peut-être la fragilité et la force dont témoignent les personnes handicapées pour toute l'humanité sont-elles même à l'origine de la recherche scientifique et technique, et peuvent-elles orienter les finalités de la recherche et de ses institutions.
