Abstract

Le 14 septembre 2009, dans le grand amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne, étaient présentées les grandes lignes du rapport Stiglitz devant plus de 900 personnalités du monde économique et politique. Créée sur l'initiative du Président de la République française, dirigée par deux prix Nobel d'économie, Joseph Stiglitz (président) et Amartya Sen (conseiller du président) et coordonnée par Jean-Paul Fitoussi, président de l'Office français des conjonctures économiques (OFCE), la commission était chargée d'examiner les limites du produit intérieur brut (PIB) en tant qu'indicateur des performances économiques et du progrès social. Trois thèmes de réflexion structurent le rapport : les problèmes classiques liés au PIB ; la mesure de la qualité de vie ; le développement durable et l'environnement.Un an et demi après sa présentation publique, cet article propose de revenir sur le déroulement des travaux de la commission et sur les premières mises en œuvre de ses recommandations.
