Improving Quality of Work Life in Hospitals Through Work-Family Balance : A Conceptual Model Outline[Amélioration de la qualité de vie au travail à hôpital à travers l'articulation travail- famille : Esquisse d'un modèle conceptuel]

The integration of new management tools in the hospital environment has led to structural transformations in the governance modes of health facilities. Quality of life at work and employees' working conditions are among the main parameters impacted by these changes. This study proposes a literature review aimed at examining the role of the main determinants of work-family articulation in improving Quality of life at work in hospital settings. It is based on a narrative and exploratory approach of the scientific literature, notably mobilizing theoretical frameworks such as the conservation theory of Hobfoll (1989). The analysis made it possible to identify several variables related to work-family articulation that influence the quality of life at work in the hospital sector, among which: workload, stress, the balance between private and professional life, working hours and professional requirements. In conclusion, this study aims to highlight how work enrichment and the reduction of conflicts between professional and personal spheres can contribute to improving Quality of life at work. It also proposes a conceptual model illustrating this relationship. Through a structured review of the literature, several major lessons have been identified, offering avenues for reflection for hospital managers and researchers.
