Abstract

This study proposes an innovative method to analyze the dynamics of municipal land ownership in France using sequence analysis applied to cadastral data. The research aims to identify typical trajectories of municipal land assets over an 11-year period (2011-2021). The methodology involves producing longitudinal data expressing trajectories as sequences, measuring distances between sequences, grouping sequences by similarity and analyzing factors of group membership. The study's originality lies in its application of sequence analysis to spatial objects (cadastral parcels) on a national scale while maintaining sub-parcel granularity. The research hypothesizes that municipalities play a key role in land ownership chains, with characteristic sequences reflecting various urban transformation processes. Results include the identification of typical land asset trajectories, revealing different land management strategies across geographical contexts.
