Abstract

This article is based on Westin's definition of eras in the evolution of informational privacy, .which identifies four main eras, from the pre-digital period to 2003, the period of rupture .following the attacks of September 11, 2001. We continue this research, and propose a fifth .era that would extend from these events to the present day. This era of AI and Big Data, the ."Tekhnetocene", is marked by a significant increase in privacy concerns as a result of .technological advances. The relationship between privacy, technology and regulation is .becoming increasingly complex. The methodology of this research incorporates OpenAlex, Iramuteq and Artificial Intelligence (AI) analyses in its bibliometric analysis, to categorize .works on privacy. The results show the links between research concepts, technological .developments and the existence of a new era. The emergence of AI-specific themes underlines .the importance of regulation to protect privacy.
