Parce que les économistes se mêlent de tout (mais ne sont pas les seuls…)

Abstract

Les économistes ont cette faculté de se mêler d'une quantité de problèmes a priori étrangers, s'attirant de ce fait les foudres de certains. Ils se sont ainsi intéressés à des sujets aussi improbables que le mariage, la criminalité, l'école, la famille, le sexe, l'éthique, l'environnement ou la drogue. Pour autant, ce n'est pas illégitime. Les économistes disposent d'outils d'analyse de ces questions. Evidemment, ils le font avec leurs mots et leur corpus scientifique, pas toujours faciles à pénétrer, ou générateurs de peurs. Marché, profit ou développement sont des mots souvent effrayants qui valent aux économistes de se voir traiter de libéraux, ou reprocher des analyses qui considèrent insuffisamment l'humain. Ces reproches proviennent d'une simple incompréhension et il appartiendrait à chacun de produire l'effort nécessaire pour rétablir un dialogue mutuellement enrichissant (un jeu à somme positive, diraient les économistes).
