Abstract

This article examines the structural and conjunctural challenges of the Malian private sector, a key player in the country's economic and social development. The study analyzes the conditions for creating, developing, and financing businesses based on a sample of 30 Malian companies. It highlights issues such as complex business establishment procedures, difficulties in accessing essential resources like electricity, property registration, and financing barriers. These challenges are exacerbated by various crises, including insecurity, institutional instability, the COVID-19 pandemic, and ECOWAS economic sanctions. Mali's ranking of 148th out of 190 in the 2020 Doing Business report illustrates the challenges faced by Malian entrepreneurs. The article calls for multi-sectoral reforms to improve the entrepreneurial environment and support the Malian private sector in its role as a growth engine.
