Abstract

Entrepreneurship has become an emerging phenomenon in the recent times. Entrepreneurship has been considered as the cure for youth unemployment and helps in wealth creation. While the process of initiation, funding and success or failure of a start-up have been studied widely, studies on the determining factors of entrepreneurial intentions have been unconvincing. The entrepreneurial ecosystem that support, encourage and prepare entrepreneurs also needs further examination. For the entrepreneurial decision to generate a new business, entrepreneurial intention is an initial and critical process. It is considered as the leading step to create a new venture in the process of entrepreneurship. Researchers have focused on students' entrepreneurial intention and the factors that affects their willingness to become entrepreneurs. The main purpose of this article is to investigate the various factors that could determine the entrepreneurial intention (EI) among students of various universities globally. In this review article I had proposed a model on the factors affecting Entrepreneurial Intentions which are a) Attitude towards Entrepreneurship b) Entrepreneurship Education c) Family background d) Relational support and e) Perceived behavioural control. Entrepreneurial Intentions is an important determinant on the entrepreneurial behaviour of a person and it influences the decision to become an entrepreneur. Forty-eight different journals which explains the various factors influencing Entrepreneurial Intentions were reviewed and the significant ones which are common in all these journals were identified as those that has a major influence. Based on my literature review it has been found that the impact of these factors is high and it is very much necessary to have these factors for the entrepreneurial behaviour to happen.
