Abstract

Often one extreme leads to another in the world of citrus growing. This will be the case in the Mediterranean this season, with production going from one of its lowest levels for a decade in 2022-23 to a near-record in 2023-24. For statistics buffs, the harvest is more than 3 million tonnes up on the previous one, approaching 24.6 million tonnes, the high-water mark set in 2018-19. However, this figure conceals a real mix of situations. They will be analysed product by product in the following pages.
