Abstract

Les prix des bois tropicaux n'ont pas évolué de manière homogène en 2018. Les cours des bois d'Asie du Sud-Est se sont affermis au début de l'année. Le contreplaqué indonésien de 2,5 mm a atteint le prix record de $ 1 000/m3, soit 25 % de hausse sur un an. Mais cette tendance haussière s'est ensuite effritée, avant de reprendre de la vigueur en fin d'année. Les bois africains sont restés à un niveau élevé une bonne partie de l'année, mais leurs cours se sont orientés à la baisse dans les derniers mois de 2018. Cette baisse a notamment concerné le tali, le belli et l'okan, essences dont les acheteurs chinois ont des stocks importants. 2018 a été une année de basculement en Afrique centrale avec l'abandon par le groupe Rougier de ses actifs au Cameroun et en Centrafrique. Cet événement marque le recul accéléré des sociétés européennes face aux firmes asiatiques, mais aussi un retrait de la certification.
