Soft Skills in the Service of Vocational Training: The Case of OFPPT Trainees

Abstract

In the age of artificial intelligence, the labor market is undergoing a profound transformation, disrupting the criteria for employability and increasing the vulnerability of young graduates to unemployment. In Morocco, this situation is particularly alarming: according to the High Commission for Planning (2024), the unemployment rate among holders of higher education degrees has reached 61.2%. In this context, this study examines the impact of integrating behavioral skills (soft skills) into vocational training programs on the employability of young graduates, based on a case study conducted at the Specialized Institute of Applied Technology (ISTA) Adarissa in Fez. A survey was carried out among a sample of young graduates to assess the extent to which these transferable skills facilitate professional integration. The results demonstrate that soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and autonomy play a crucial role in enhancing employability. They also underscore the need to reconsider curricula by integrating innovative pedagogical approaches that align with the demands of a rapidly changing labor market.
