Abstract

The tense context of the July 29, 2018 presidential elections in Mali offered a unique opportunity for one who presents himself as a conscience agitator to shed light on various proposals for the revival of Mali's economy. The growing fragility of social groups, the State's limited response to the urgent and increasing needs of the population, and difficulties in accessing basic social services (health, education, employment, infrastructure, etc.), combined with a lack of long-term perspectives, create space for the research community to assert itself as a vital force for proposing solutions to Mali's ongoing crisis. This book—without pretension—is the result of the vision and reflections of the author and fellow researchers from CRAPES, as a contribution to the current debate on pathways out of crisis in Mali. Economic Solutions is a call to active awareness, to patriotic and militant engagement from political leaders, researchers, and all stakeholders involved in the 2018 presidential race, urging them to place Mali on a dynamic path of national reconstruction.
