Abstract

The book examines Mali's 2024 national budget, a pivotal period marked by security challenges and the context of a post-transition presidential election. Amid threats of sanctions and the urgent need for a new fiscal framework, the study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of budgetary data with qualitative interviews involving 22 key informants, including economic experts and senior government officials. The findings highlight efforts to rationalize public spending, while emphasizing the critical role of mobilizing diaspora resources to support the national economy. This synthesis reveals the complexity of Mali's budgetary choices and their implications for the country's stability and growth. It offers a unique perspective on how Mali can navigate its current economic and political challenges while laying the groundwork for a more resilient and prosperous future. This research not only informs policymakers and economic actors but also contributes to the academic debate on fiscal management and governance in transitional contexts.
