Abstract

The impact of using external contractors on the safety of facilities, on the one hand, and on the health and safety of workers, on the other, is at the heart of the questions being raised by the French Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) and the French National Institute for Research on Nuclear Safety (INRS). This article, the second in a series co-authored by the two organizations, provides an overview of the risks and potential of subcontracting.
