Abstract

Le secteur des semences en agriculture est intensif en recherche : il fait intervenir de multiples acteurs économiques pour la création de nouvelles variétés, la production de semences à grande échelle et leur distribution auprès des agriculteurs. Les différents types de contrats établis entre ces acteurs économiques font l'objet d'une analyse détaillée dans ce chapitre, avec une focalisation plus particulière sur le cas des semences de grandes cultures en France. Nous montrons que les contrats jouent un rôle clé pour assurer une production de qualité, valoriser la propriété intellectuelle et favoriser les partenariats en recherche. Dans certaines situations, la nécessité d'établir des contrats entre des acteurs très nombreux conduit à une standardisation partielle ou complète de ces contrats. Enfin, les enjeux de transition agroécologique créent de nouveaux besoins en matière d'innovation dans le domaine des semences, ce qui peut aussi nécessiter de nouvelles formes de contractualisation pour favoriser le développement de ces innovations.
